Arduino Level 1
Age group: designed for students in 4th grade and above.
Objectives: An introductory course that teaches the fundamentals of physical computing. Graduates of this course would be able to understand the basics of electronics, and create simple functional circuits using LEDs, switches, and sensors. This course introduces the concept of block-based visual programming, based on the M.I.T. Scratch platform. Block coding is considered to be the most intuitive way to learn coding.
This is a 10-week long course, meeting once a week for an hour. There are class exercises and weekly homework to help kids learn effectively. A final project encourages creativity and public speaking skills. All classes are conducted via online meeting only.
Tuition: $160 for 10 classes.
Supplies: Students will provide their own Arduino board and components (product link here). We can also help with purchasing from Amazon. Students will use TinkerCAD Circuits for coding. Each student will need a computer (not tablet) with an USB port. Download and install Arduino IDE. Instructions will be provided to enrolled students before classes start. Class size is limited to 8 students.
